    There is a variation of this noseband marked "CARTER SADDLER BEDMINSTER BRISTOL". The village of Bedminster was incorporated within the City of Bristol in the 1890's. Carter was almost certainly the Bedminster harness makers cited by Mr. Ferdinand Huth in the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society in 1940 as one of the very few saddlers who specialised in the manufacture of Gypsy harness. He was located at no great distance from Bridgwater, where the firm of W Watts built horse drawn caravans in the first half of the 20th century.
